Closets for the whole house, not just the primary bedroom

Woodbridge is one of the older established parts of Vaughan, and its housing reflects that. Streets around Market Lane and Islington Woods include homes going back several decades, while Sonoma Heights and the areas out toward Pine Valley are largely 1990s and 2000s family builds. What they have in common is that they are family homes with three, four or five bedrooms — and that the builder gave each of those bedrooms the same single rod and single shelf.

That makes Woodbridge projects multi-closet by default. The primary walk-in is usually the reason someone calls, but the closets that have genuinely stopped working are often the kids' rooms, where one rod at adult height wastes the entire lower half of the space. Splitting those into double hanging, adding a drawer bank, and carrying shelving to the ceiling changes what the room can hold without touching a wall.

The older Woodbridge homes need more care. Closet openings there are less predictable, ceilings are sometimes lower than the newer subdivisions, and shallower depths mean a system that assumes a modern standard will not sit properly. Those are measured individually, and where the depth genuinely is not there, a built-in wardrobe on an adjacent wall usually does more than anything squeezed into the original opening.

Local context

Where Woodbridge homes run out of storage

The primary closet gets the attention, but in a family home it is rarely the one causing the most day-to-day trouble.

Three to five builder closets per house

Every bedroom got the same minimum fit-out. The secondary rooms usually reach the point of being unusable well before the primary does.

One rod at adult height

In a child's room a single rod set for adults wastes the entire lower half of the closet. Double hanging turns that dead space into the part they can actually reach.

Unused height above the shelf

Builders stop at roughly seven feet regardless of the ceiling. In the newer Woodbridge subdivisions that leaves a full band of storage nobody has ever used.

Older openings are not standard

Homes around Market Lane and the older streets have shallower, narrower closets that need a design built to the measured opening rather than a modern default.

Where we work

Woodbridge neighbourhoods we serve

Red Rose serves every part of Woodbridge. These notes describe the housing stock in each area — what the closets are usually like, and what tends to be worth changing.

Sonoma Heights

1990s and 2000s family homes now at the age where the original wire shelving has sagged and is usually the first thing replaced.

Islington Woods

Established homes on mature lots, with a mix of original and renovated closet openings that vary considerably street to street.

Market Lane

The older heart of Woodbridge. Closets are shallower and narrower than modern standards and are measured individually.

Pine Valley

Larger detached homes with generous primary suites, typically finished with a single rail running around two walls.

West Woodbridge

A wide age range of family housing, so the design starts from the measured wall rather than a subdivision pattern.

Vellore Woods

Newer detached and townhome streets with tall ceilings, where the space above the standard shelf is the main thing to reclaim.

What we build

Closet solutions for Woodbridge homes

01

Walk-In Closets

Primary walk-ins in Pine Valley, Sonoma Heights and Vellore Woods generally have the footprint but not the fit-out. We rebuild them as L-shaped or U-shaped systems with double hanging, long hanging for coats, drawer banks and shelving carried to the ceiling.

02

Reach-In Closets

The closets that actually solve the problem in a Woodbridge family home. Each is built to its measured opening, with hanging heights set for whoever uses the room — which for a child's room usually means double hanging they can reach themselves.

03

Wardrobes & Closet Doors

For older Market Lane and West Woodbridge homes with shallow or missing closets, a built-in wardrobe adds a full run of hanging and drawers against a flat wall. Sliding and bi-fold doors free up the swing space a hinged door takes from a smaller bedroom.

04

Built-In Storage

Front halls, mudrooms, laundry rooms and media walls. In a busy household this is what keeps coats, shoes, sports gear and school bags out of the bedroom closets.

Our work

Closets we have built across Ontario

We have not published a photographed project gallery for Woodbridge specifically. Rather than show stock photography or work from somewhere else and imply it was built here, we would rather point you at the real thing: photographed projects from real Ontario homes are on our portfolio and Instagram, and 100 customers across our Ontario service area have reviewed the work on Google.

If you would like to see examples closest to your own home type — a condo reach-in, a townhome primary closet, a full walk-in — ask when you get in touch and we will send relevant photos directly.

How it works

From online design to installed closet

  1. Design online

Pick your closet type, enter your wall dimensions, choose height and base style, then place the modules you want. It takes a few minutes and nothing is booked.

  2. Get an estimate

Your price updates live as you build, itemised by base system, drawers, height and base upgrades, and HST. No waiting for a callback to find out the number.

  3. Confirm the design

We review the design with you and confirm the real measurements in your Woodbridge home before anything is cut, so the system fits the opening you actually have.

  4. We manufacture it

Your system is cut and built to those measurements in Ontario — sized to your walls rather than assembled from standard cabinet widths.

  5. We install it

Our team removes the old shelving, patches the wall, and installs the new system. A single closet is typically a one-day install.

Why Red Rose

Why Woodbridge homeowners choose us

Design it online first

A 3D closet designer that prices your build as you go. You see the layout and the number before you talk to a salesperson, because there isn't one.

Built to your measurements

Every system is cut to the actual opening in your Woodbridge home — up to 130 inches wide and 10 feet tall — so nothing is lost to filler panels.

Made in Ontario

We manufacture on our own equipment rather than importing a catalogue product, which is why non-standard widths, depths and ceiling heights are routine rather than surcharges.

Installed by our own team

Karan and Mehak oversee every project from the first call to the final install. The people who quote your closet are the people who deliver it.

2-year warranty

Every Red Rose system carries a 2-year warranty, and because the parts are made here, a replacement is cut on the same equipment as the original.

Questions

Custom closets in Woodbridge — common questions

Should we do all the bedrooms or just the primary?

In a Woodbridge family home, doing them together is usually the better value. The secondary reach-ins are a small fraction of the primary walk-in cost, and scheduling them into the same install means the crew is in your home once rather than several times. You can design them all online first and decide afterwards which to proceed with.

How much does a custom closet cost in Woodbridge?

Reach-ins are $650 for openings to 49 inches and $750 across the 50 to 96 inch range that covers most bedrooms in these houses. An L-shaped walk-in starts at $1,250. Drawers are $125 each, and extra ceiling height adds in proportion. All figures are before 13% HST, and the online designer shows the itemised breakdown as you build each closet.

Can you design a closet a child can actually use?

Yes, and it is one of the more worthwhile changes in a family home. A single rod at adult height leaves the entire lower half of the closet unreachable. Double hanging puts a second rail at a height they can use themselves, with drawers below and the long-term storage up top — so the room stays tidy without an adult managing it.

Our home is older and the closets are shallow. Will a system fit?

Yes, because we build to your measured depth rather than assuming a standard. In the shallowest older Woodbridge closets we will sometimes recommend shifting part of the storage to a built-in wardrobe on an adjacent wall instead of forcing everything into the original opening — it usually ends up holding considerably more.

Is Woodbridge served directly, or through Vaughan?

Woodbridge is part of the City of Vaughan and we work throughout it. There is no practical difference in how a project runs, and pricing is based on your closet rather than your address.
